I am Mahbubul Hasan Saif, a student currently using the Yamaha FZ-S FI V2 (Armada Blue DD). My bike has been with me for over 2 years and 3 months, and I’ve ridden it for more than 24,000 kilometers. In my opinion, the FZ series bikes are incredibly comfortable in every aspect. Below, I’m sharing my experiences with the FZ-S FI V2.
Advantages of the Bike
1. Exceptional Braking System
The first thing that made me fall in love with this bike is its braking system. It has never disappointed me, and honestly, I could write endlessly about its reliability.
2. Eye-Catching Design
The bike’s outward appearance is stunning. It’s so mesmerizing that it’s hard to take your eyes off it.
3. Comfortable Handlebar
The handlebar is very ergonomic, ensuring minimal hand pain even on long rides.
4. Superior Suspension
The bike features a telescopic front suspension and Monocross rear suspension, which absorb shocks effectively, making off-road rides smoother.
5. Fuel Efficiency
Thanks to its Fuel Injection (FI) system, the bike only burns the necessary amount of fuel. Compared to carburetor-based bikes, this feature makes it significantly more fuel-efficient.
Disadvantages of the Bike
1. Lack of Kickstart
Although FI systems generally don’t include kickstart options, it can be inconvenient when the battery malfunctions. I’ve faced this issue once.
2. Weak Horn
The stock horn is not suitable for highways. Its sound is barely audible, making it difficult to overtake larger vehicles.
3. Subpar Stock Tires
When I purchased the bike, it came with MRF CEAT tires, which I found disappointing. The tires were soft, developed cracks quickly, and didn’t hold up well against hard objects.
4. Declining Build Quality
Due to the reduced price of the bike, its build quality has also decreased significantly.
Issues Faced So Far
While I haven’t encountered major problems, there have been a few minor issues:
- A metal piece punctured the soft tire early on, causing significant inconvenience.
- The battery started showing issues after 20,000 kilometers.
- The front suspension’s oil seal recently needed replacement.
- Pickup issues occurred when fuel impurities were present.
- The bike’s sound became unusual but was fixed with proper servicing.
My Travels with the Bike
I haven’t traveled extensively outside Dhaka with this bike. However, I did take a spontaneous trip to Tangail and have explored many areas within Manikganj. Due to a lack of permission from home, I haven’t been able to go on long tours yet. (In Sha Allah) I plan to explore every corner of Bangladesh in the future.
Bike Modifications
I’ve made a few modifications to enhance my bike:
- Replaced the headlight with an LED light.
- Added some decorative lighting.
- Installed Timsun 140/70/17-sized tires.
- Added crash guards and stickers.
Mileage
I get a mileage of 40-45 km per liter. The FI system contributes significantly to fuel efficiency.
DD or SD?
The Double Disc (DD) version offers superior braking compared to the Single Disc (SD) version. However, it takes some time to get accustomed to the DD brakes.
Current Market Demand for FZ-S FI V2
The FZ series has always been highly sought after. Even now, the FZ-S FI V2 is more popular among FZ enthusiasts than the V3. Yamaha’s Japanese build quality ensures durability and reliability, making it a preferred choice.
Conclusion
It’s hard to fully express my admiration for Yamaha bikes. My love for the Yamaha brand has always been profound. To sum it up, I’d say, “I Love Yamaha. It Really Revs My Heart.”
